Artist's statement - EMBODIED IMAGERY
2023-2024
My practice has evolved over the years and this is reflected in the themes and processes I engage with.
In my recent work, I explore human experiences by delving into embodied imagery inspired by personal and shared stories.
I use charcoal, enjoying its unpredictable nature that mirrors life's complexities, leaving behind smudges, erasures,
and imperfections.
Each stroke in my drawings tells a story, revealing emotions and thoughts. These embodied images bear witness to the connection between the artist and the medium; they serve as a visual diary of my internal landscape, offering glimpses into the interconnectedness of personal and collective narratives.
Experimentation is a significant part of my process,in these works I strongly feel the shift from being the experimenter to becoming the experimented-upon. This shift allows me to express genuine vulnerability, capturing the raw essence of the human condition.
Through experimentation, I hope to find authenticity that resonates with viewers. My aim is to create images that evoke a visceral response, inviting the audience to connect with the shared human experience, imperfection, and the blending of individual and collective stories.
I aim to inspire viewers to take a moment to pause, reflect, and engage with their emotions. I encourage them to ask questions, delve into their thoughts, and deeply contemplate our shared existence. Through this process, creating art becomes a means of acknowledging the strength and resilience that emerges from challenging circumstances.

Artist's statement - liminal spaces
One of the central theme I was exploring between 2021- mid of 2023 was the concept of liminal space, the space in between, from both: an emotional and metaphorical perspective.
I was particularly interested in how liminal spaces can impact us on different levels and the feelings, experiences they can awaken within us. When we find ourselves in a liminal space, it can shake us out of our habitual ways of being, forcing us to question our core beliefs, practices, or even identities. It takes us out of what we have known, but does not allow us to know what comes next.
I believe there is great potential in liminal spaces, if we only allow ourselves to trust and pay attention. In these spaces, something very transformative can take place, where we encounter the world and others in a deeper way, and gain a greater understanding of ourselves and the world beyond ourselves.
By using a combination of different techniques, such as mono printing and collage, I wanted to create a sense of two realms blending together, yet remaining distinct. This effectively conveys the idea of a "liminal space" as a place where one is in between familiar and unknown, and where one can experience feelings of disorientation and uncertainty.
The used of realistic landscapes from magazines in my collage work, along with the use of toys in the printing process,
it was an interesting choice as it helped me to evoke feelings of nostalgia and familiarity, which contrasts with the disorienting effects of the liminal space. The juxtaposition of different objects and the use of a particular color palette in the prints also contributed to the sense of challenging our understanding of space.

To simply be
Releasing… Allowing
To simply be
A gift of Presence
Where we are aware…
of all that surrounds us
A sense of acceptance
Where we embrace
All that life brings…

A sense of belonging
Where we are open
To simply be
